Standing at 1,200m above sea level, Gunung Jerai is the highest peak in Kedah and was a landmark for ships that sailed along the waters. Gunung Jerai is Kedah’s oldest hill resort and recreational park.
This legendary mountain and its surroundings are surrounded by lush greenery which ideal for nature-based activities such as hiking, camping and mountain biking. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and nearby islands.
On the way to the peak, pay a visit to the Forestry Museum that houses a myriad of plant samples.

An elephant shaped limestone formation, Gunung Keriang is a favourite spot for caving, hiking and jungle trekking. It offers a spectacular view of the rustic countryside and sprawling paddy plantations.
The limestone hill contains about 10 different types of rocks including crystal formations. Gunung Keriang Recreational Park provides walking trails with concrete railings and gazebos.
Sungai Merbok Mangrove Forest Reserve
Covering an area of 4,114 hectares, the Sungai Merbok mangrove forest reserve contains 42 of the 60 species of the world’s mangrove, and also the “Eye of the Crocodile” species that was found only in four mangrove areas in the world.
Take a river cruise along the Merbok River to Pulau Tiga, Teluk Bayu, Tanjung Dawai or towards the sea and hop on to small islands dotted off the coast of mainland Kedah, including Pulau Telur, Pulau Song Song, and Pulau Bidan.
Discover its winding mangrove reveries along with its diverse wildlife. It is also a hotspot for bird watching as more than 80 species of birds populate the area.
Boats can be chartered from Semiling Jetty.
This well equipped jetty complex has a car park, information centre as well as a Mangrove Forest Reserve Museum.
Sungai Sedim Tree Top Walk
One of longest tree top walks in the world, Tree Top Walk Sungai Sedim with a length of 925m and a height of 26m up above the forest floor takes visitors an exhilarating adventure through a lush rainforest canopy. The walkway is built with galvanised steel and equipped with railings.
It also offers visitors a spectacular view of Sungai Sedim and fascinating flora and fauna. Various species of birds, butterflies, hornbills and small animals can be spotted.

Ulu Muda Eco Park
A hidden gem for nature lovers, the remote 120,000-hectare Ulu Muda Eco Park is known as a sanctuary for endangered and rare wildlife. It is home to 109 species of mammals, 54 species of reptiles, 33 species of fish and 200 species of bird.
Explore jungle trails, rivers, limestone hills, caves and saltlicks while you enjoy boat rides and observe wildlife in Ulu Muda. The entry point to the park is from Gubir Jetty.
Ulu Legong Hot Spring
Located 22km from Baling, the Ulu Legong Hot Spring Recreational Centre is a popular spot for visitors to enjoy a therapeutic soak in its hot mineral waters.
It consists of five pools with temperature ranging from 30 °C to 60°C for visitors to immerse in its therapeutic benefits. It is the only hot springs in Malaysia to operate around the clock with 24-hour cafeteria.
